A WORD FROM OUR U.S. REPRESENTATIVE

  Congressman Steve King, Representative of the Iowa 5^th District, spoke to club members about issues of concern facing our nation.  As a member of the House Agriculture, Small Business, and Judiciary committees King has a responsibility to create legislation reflecting Iowan values.  Main issues according to King include agricultural and energy policies, rural businesses sustainability, maintaining family structure, taking care of veterans, government fiscal responsibility, and national security.  As the presidential debates continue until election this fall, King noted, quality of life issues such as health care, Social Security, tax reform need to be discussed in depth to arrive at specific measures to enhance our quality of life from the present into the future.  Our elected leaders will make decisions affecting our future.  King stated it is important that Supreme Judge appointments uphold all of our constitutional values.  This is important for the destiny of our country as is following the laws presently established including those pertaining to immigration.
