Treynor IT Club
Shelly Bailey, the IT coordinator at Treynor, is in her fourth year as a full time employee at Treynor. She was also the cheerleading coach this year.
The school now has 293 computers, adding 47 this year. The also have 72 classroom responders used by the elementary school. The responders allow immediate feedback from every student in the classroom. Everyone in the meeting used them to respond to historical questions. The computer immediately shows who responded and gives summaries and individual information on the responses.
The High School Information Technology (IT) club started in January 2008. There were 9 members last year and 17 this year. Last year Iowa State University hosted an IT Olympics in Ames where the students competed during a weekend in April. This year the IT Olympics will be 20-21 April in Ames. The trip costs $40 per student and they compete in three areas: Robotics, Cyber Defense, and Game Design. Those in attendance work hard to compete, but get free food for the entire Olympics.
Taylor Sklenar from the IT club assisted Ms. Bailey in demonstrating a robot built by the club. The club also performed the set up computers in the new computer lab in the High School addition.
