VISION TREYNOR

Scott Hill and Jay Myers spoke to Club members about plans to improve the Little League facilities and swimming pool in Treynor.  They have be working with an ad-hoc committee of concerned parents to explore options to meet current and future recreational needs of the Treynor community.  Scott explained that discussions a ‘town hall meeting’ let to a group called ‘Vision Treynor’ to pursue the Little League field and swimming pool issues.  Scott noted that with the expansion of Treynor school buildings, Little League field playing space has been reduced.  He also noted that the Treynor Recreational Association swimming pool was built in the ‘60s and is at the end of its life expectancy.  The pool is subject to leakage and mechanical failures at any time that would force its closure.  Phase I of the Vision Treynor plan is to determine the feasibility of Little League ball fields and a new swimming pool.  Jay explained an architectural firm could study the demographics and topography, obtain public opinion, appraise the current pool and prepare proposals for a swimming pool and ball fields.  The expected cost of this feasibility study will be about ten thousand dollars.  Contributions for this project can be made to the Treynor Foundation at Treynor State Bank.  After a plan is prepared by the architectural firm it can be used to support grant applications seeking resources to construct the planned facilities.  Meanwhile, Scott noted they have a plan to expand and develop the Treynor East Park ball field to Little League standards upon approval by the city council.  If this plan is approved Vision Treynor would like Optimists to help install the improvements.
