Michaela Abbott spoke to Club members about her effort to encourage youth to be organ donors. Michaela is a senior at Omaha Westside High School and participated in a National Youth Leadership Training program in the past year. Michaela showed a video she created to encourage students to become organ donors. Students were asked if they would accept an organ from another donor if they did not commit to being a donor.

Michaela stated the need for organ donors is great as a name is added to the list of needed transplants every thirteen minutes. Your willingness to be a donor can be shown on a donor card in you wallet or on a driver license, but it is important that other members of your family know of your desire, Michaela emphasized. To spread her program to encourage youth to be organ donors, Michaela said she was contacting celebrities to help sponsor it.
