Mission Trip

Megan Godfrey spoke at the Optimist Club on August 14 about her internship for Athletes in Action this summer.  She spent eight weeks at their world headquarters in Xenia, Ohio.  Athletes in Action is part of Campus Crusade for Christ.

In Xenia, Ohio, Athletes in Action has four dorms, a sports complex, and is building a large indoor facility.  They host camps and retreats, especially for sports activities.  They also send out sports tour groups to minister.

The sports teams spend one week in Xenia, then go to various countries.  Since it involves sports, they can go to countries that are closed to religious activities. This summer they sent teams to China, India, and countries in South America.

Megan worked from May 29 until July 31 in sports performance.  Athletes for Action is on 30 campuses and sends out 50 tours per year.  They have 60 full time staff and had 17 interns this summer.
