GETTING AWAY FROM HOME FOR A WHILE

German visitor Kathrina Truebanbach spoke to Club members about her experiences in the US the past several months. Kathrina, who has studied English in school since the 5th grade, came to the US to learn through a business internship. 1st National Bank of Omaha was the only area business to acknowledge her application. Kathrina is from Gross-Gerau Germany near Frankfort. After she returns home she will complete the college studies for a bachelor degree in business. Kathrina said she worked in the credit card marketing development division of 1st National Bank and was challenged to learn about all the various credit card systems. Working in cubicles was a different experience. Kathrina said some cultural differences she noted were that people were friendlier in stores in the US. The customer service is much better and the stores are open every day of the week and often 24 hr. Kathrina explained she had done quite a bit of traveling across the US during her four months internship here and greatly enjoyed to experiences.
