Treynor Girls Softball
JoEllen Travis, the Treynor girls softball coach, spoke at the Optimist Club on September 5. This summer they had lost three seniors from the previous year. Dani Flossinger was the only senior this year. She will be competing at Northwestern in volleyball and softball. The team had 4 Juniors, 6 Sophomores, and one Freshman, so it was a young team this year.
This year the team set a record 0.337 batting average. Their record was 27-8 and they were second in the conference at 10-4. This year’s challenges included practicing around golf and cross country. Three of the top softball hitters were in golf, which went to State this year.
Dani Flossinger was on the all-state academic team, first team all conference, and honorable mention for all-state. Sara Nielson was the RBI leader with 29 RBIs. Alex Snyder was the leading hitter with a batting average of 0.441 and 56 hits. She also led in runs with 33. Dani Flossinger led in stolen bases with 32.
JoEllen was the coach of the year in the District. Her husband Travis, along with Niel Anderson, took care of the softball and baseball fields this year.
