CHRISTMAS AT THE WHITE HOUSE
CHAD GUTTAU, MICK and JUDY GUTTAU, and JON and Debra JORGENSEN had the opportunity to attend a Christmas Party at the White House last month. They worked diligently on the Bush election campaign last year and helped deliver more than twice the goal for Republican votes for President Bush in Pottawattamie County. Their invitation to the White House was a reward for their efforts. They joined about 700 others from around the U.S. to the party hosted by the President and Laura Bush. Nearly all the public rooms on the White House were open to the group. The beautifully furnished rooms were even more beautiful with the extensive Christmas decorations. Unlike usual public White House tours, the partygoers were allowed to sit on the furniture. Mary Ann Hanusa, originally of Council Bluffs, now serves as Personal Correspondence Secretary to President Bush. MICK stated she obtained permission to conduct an evening tour of the White House exclusively for them. JON noted they visited a number of Washington, DC attractions including the Capital, Library of Congress, Supreme Court, WWII Memorial, and Korean War Memorial. CHAD said it looked like the state bird for DC was the construction crane as there were so many in the skyline of the city. JON said if you have the opportunity to meet President Bush, just say you are from western Iowa. He is very grateful for the votes cast.
