Treynor High School Junior Andrew Carper recently returned from a trip to Washington, DC where he attended the 2005 Presidential Classroom. Andrew said he joined about 300 other high school students from the U.S. and other countries to focus on Science, Technology, and Public Policy. The program was sponsored by Honeywell, Andrew noted, and was held on the campus of Georgetown University. With a smaller group of 40, Andrew stated, he attended lectures by prominent scientists, futurists, military leaders, and educators. The group also debated public policy issues from various points of view. Andrew said he was very grateful for the opportunity to participate in this program and thanked STEVE IRVIN for nominating him.
